Fantastisk godt headset

The App and HW is goof, but…

..there are a couple of issues:

First the software - by software I mean the app for iOS and macOS. The software good and reliable , but the iPad version is amateurish and kind of old-school 2010ish with its total lack of focus on the large iPad display. It’s just an interface from the iPhone, meaning the app uses only 30% of the screen estate and if blown up to full screen, you can read the text from 10 away. Come on developers and UX/UI designers.. wake up.

As I have several headsets, sometimes the app is confused about which headset is connected. Not an issue for many, but nevertheless. By the way, this is also present on the Mac version.

On the flip side, the firmware update process is flawless and totally without any worries. The control options are on a level above what you can expect from other actors in this market space, and they works as expected. I also appreciate the growing number of languages supported by the robot lady in my ears.

I wish they would bring back the feature announcements regarding the Remaining Hours though. There is no way to determine how long estimated Talk Time you have left, which is an issue for a hard core user as myself. Dev guys, if you read this.. please bring back functions like this.

And final comments regarding the headset itself as software and hardware goes together:

1) despite fantastic noice cancellation features, it doesn’t perform very well in a windy environment. If you are outside and answering a call, the wind noise is almost unbearable - the noise on your side is bad and the person you’re talking to also experience the same. This is an industrial design issue and an algorithm issue that should have been addressed a long time ago.
2) Reliability is unfortunately an issue, I have lost count of the number of times where the headset disconnects from my phone during a call and have to be paired again or rebooted - confusing the one you are having a conversation with. It also randomly disconnects while there are no calls active.
3) Reliability again, the firmware sometimes does not boot properly resulting in the headset not connecting, well sort of as it may be or not be connected. The headset icon on the top bar doesn’t show up and the voice announcing Headset On, XX Connected doesn’t come. Pushing the power button quickly to the pairing position doesn’t change the status, ok sometimes it will reconnect, other times not - only a reboot of the headset will reconnect properly.
4) Build quality.Let me put it this way, if you have the Voyager 1 series, keep it. The material used on the present headset soft areas are thinner than a fly’s wings and wears out surprisingly quick. This means your soft headband looks and feels a hundred years old as it becomes flimsy and tacky looking. This was not the case with the previous generation as the material was of a different quality.

Now, I a, not a rookie user of wireless headsets or the Voyage series. I have been a user of the series for years and I am a hard core heavy user meaning I am one of the few people that empties the battery in one day on a regular basis, despite the fantastic battery time available on this series.

I’ve filed numerous complaints about the above asking the engineers to approach me for feedback - well, I got the headset replaced several times but it ends there, problems are the same, design flaws are still present in both software and hardware and an no point - ever - anyone responsible came back to me with anything.

Thats my review of the software and hardware - despite the above, I think it is still worth it and I am using it every day.
