Description

'Sange fra i dag' is a song cycle and music player concept developed and composed by Aske Zidore and Anders Lauge Meldgaard, based on poems by Ida Zidore. The songs are composed and recorded as non-linear progressions, and can only be experienced through an app for smartphones and tablets, which is made to follow the systemic paths of the songs. There is no defined starting or ending point, and with each playback you can experience numerous variations.
Among clear harmonies and flexible tones from the piano and flute, two bright boys’ voices weave the poems in and out of the melodies, easily and alertly. On the recordings, the songs are performed by singers from the Danish Boys' Choir. Through minimal compositions and a probing poetry, 'Sange fra i dag' unfolds material and emotional coincidences between the linguistic world of the economy and its systemic, measurable life forms, and human experience and vulnerability. No final sum is given, but rather a quivering and ever-changing state, that is both new and unchanging at the some time.
