We send each other flower bouquets to express love, ask for forgiveness, wish a speedy recovery. But we don’t always know our succulents from our strelitzias.
PlantSnap puts you on first-name terms with the flowers around you by identifying plants, using photos.
Open the app and take a clear and well-lit picture of the flower or plant that interests you. In a few seconds, PlantSnap will show you a selection of species that closely match the one in your photo.
If you’re running iOS 12 or later, an additional educational experience awaits. With Snap! mode, once you identify a flower or leaf, tap Augmented Reality to discover tappable bubbles with background info related to the species. Topics include how photosynthesis works and the role bees play in pollination.
A professional photograph and a description of the plant with proper botanical name gives you all the detail you need to select an accurate match.
All successfully identified plants are saved in the My Collection tab, together with the time and geographical coordinates of the snap. This comes in handy on a wildlife hike, making PlantSnap a journal of the vegetation you encounter.
If you’re in the mood for floral adventures without getting out of the door, check out PlantSnap’s Explore tab. It lists trending plant species and shows the most frequently identified flowers.
