Only the most jaded of folks will fail to grin when serenaded by a chorus of cartoon cats. This is your reward for each stage passed in Cookie Cats Blast – and it’s an absolute joy every time.
There’s a long-suffering dog in here, too, who’s the butt of all the between-stage jokes. When he isn’t being fired into space on the back of a rocket, you’re feeding him dog biscuits in what we assume is a bid to keep animal lovers onside.
Anyway, the game itself: it’s about tapping adjoining tiles cookies of the same colour to clear the board. Of course, there are special tiles that jazz up the action further, so rockets take out a horizontal or vertical line, plungers explode the cookies around them and balls of yarn remove all tiles of the same colour.
And so on: the more you play, the more power-ups you unlock and the greater stage variety there is. There are daily quests to complete, too.
Cookie Cats Blast is infectiously playful and incredibly easy to pick up – we’d recommend it to anyone seeking a new game for their commute or just to relax with on the couch. And we made it through this Game of the Day without a single terrible cat pun! Purrfect. Oh.
