Battleships are more ponderous than tanks, but that doesn’t slow down this follow-up to the hugely popular World of Tanks Blitz.
It transforms World War II naval battles into fast, intense multiplayer matches where strategy matters but aim is more important.
At the start of each match, two opposing fleets face off from a safe distance. The smaller, lighter destroyers move out first, harassing the enemy with torpedoes.
When you’re sure your shots are connecting, double-tap the fire button to unleash all loaded guns at once.
As cruisers, battleships and aircraft carriers close the distance, the action gets frantic. You’re guiding a craft that steers like, well, a battleship – all the while trying to keep one eye on your damage-control team and another on your own attacks.
An accurate aim is important, and since your opponents are on the move, you have to gauge their path and speed, leading out your targets before firing. Once you’re locked in, it’s hugely satisfying to unload all your artillery at once, sending an enemy vessel down into the depths.
The latest update adds some much-requested German battleships.
The strategic side of World of Warships Blitz comes into play as your team of seven coordinates against the other team, pairing up to take out damaged opponents or racing to capture key areas, earning team points. Your side wins by reaching 1,000 points first or sinking the entire enemy fleet.
Back at base, there are plenty of upgrades and new ships to buy. And you’ll want as many as you can get. This way, when your current craft is sunk, you can immediately leave the battle and take out a new ship in a different skirmish.
It won’t be long before you’re in the thick of these matches right up until the end – and jumping into the next one in search of victory.
