Beacon to Shelburne shines a light on the history and the future of Nova Scotia South Shore’s hidden gem Shelburne County.
Rich in sea and land history Shelburne sits on Mi'kma'ki the ancestral and unseeded territory of the Mi'kmaq People. The Black Loyalist Landing in Birchtown in 1783 and the black loyalist heritage center showcases this history to all who visit. From its inception the sea has given some of it treasures to the fisherman who have this area there and home businesses.. On land you can surround yourself in nature from Islands Park to the multitude of beautiful beaches and lighthouses.
The area is home to architecture that has been careful preserved for centuries. The Shelburne historical society through the museums by the sea explores the long history that shines a light on the hidden treasure that is all around this community.
