Descripción

The New England Ophthalmological Society (NEOS) is the second oldest American medical specialty society in continuous existence. Founded in 1884, the society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and advancement of ophthalmology. Now well into its second century of existence, NEOS has had the good fortune to count among its members some of the brightest and most influential leaders in ophthalmology.

Today as in the past, NEOS remains committed to educating its members to ensure continuing high standards of ophthalmic care in New England. NEOS is also committed to educating other health care providers and the public about diseases and conditions of the eye with emphasis on detection, treatment, and prevention. NEOS maintains an Educational Endowment Fund to help achieve the society’s mission far into the future.

We are truly proud of this organization and want to thank our members for their continued participation and their service to this unique society. The current NEOS membership is comprised of over 737 Board-certified and Board-eligible ophthalmologists from all over New England. NEOS organizes and sponsors five meetings per year, consisting of two half-day sessions. Each session is devoted to an ophthalmic subspecialty, including ethics and risk management. One meeting per year includes education for allied ophthalmic personnel. Given the high caliber of our regional, national, and international speakers, as well as our proximity to multiple prestigious academic institutions, NEOS is able to consistently offer its members world-class meetings within a short car or train ride. NEOS is accredited by the Massachusetts Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Typically members are eligible to receive up to 35 CME credits per year.
