Description

The St. Teresa of Ávila Contemplative Prayer mobile app is packed with features to help you learn and practice St. Teresa’s way of prayer, the Prayer of Recollection.

The St. Teresa of Avila Contemplative Prayer mobile app is filled with features to help you learn more about the Catholic Church's teachings on contemplative prayer. It introduces users to the Discalced Carmelite Order and the contemplative prayer approaches suggested by two of the greatest teachers of prayer in the Christian tradition, namely St. Teresa of Avila's Prayer of Recollection and St. John of the Cross's Prayer of Loving Attention.

The Carmelite community consists of priests, brothers, nuns, and laity serving the Roman Catholic Church through lives of prayer and ministry. It traces its origins back to twelfth-century hermits on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land. The Discalced Carmelite order was established by St. Teresa of Avila in 1562 and St. John of the Cross in 1568 to renew the commitment to contemplation, simplicity, and community.

This app gathers various useful Discalced Carmelite and contemplative prayer-related resources, including:
Prayer Timers
Visio Divina Image Gallery
Digital Rosary featuring Discalced Carmelites
Brigittine/Carmelite Rosary
Hymns like Flos Carmeli, Salve Regina and O Salutaris Hostia
The personal devotion of Carmelite saints such as St. Therese’s devotion to the Holy Face
A growing audiovisual treasury of additional prayers such as the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Chaplet to the Holy Spirit
Book recommendations

Additionally, the app offers features such as:

Links to National and International Discalced Carmelite Websites
Links to Institute of Carmelite Studies (ICS) and CarmelCast podcast
Link to the Liturgy of the Hours
Access to the Bible, daily readings and the Catechism of the Catholic Church
Link to an online store that offers Discalced Carmelite and Catholic devotional items whose proceeds fund various Discalced Carmelite ministries, including the continued development and free access to this app.
The app is regularly updated with improved content and features, so users are encouraged to check back regularly for updates.
