Wolow is a wake on LAN app that allows you to remotely start up a computer by sending a "magic packet" request.

Simply add a device configuration inside the app, select the device you would like to start up and then press the power button and as long as your configuration is correct you can watch your computer startup.

Wake on LAN is a network protocol that is supported by the majority of Ethernet cards available. Before using the app ensure your computer is fully configured to work with the wake on LAN protocol. A guide on how to set up your computer can be found within the app at the bottom.

Pretty bad

The UI is rather cluttered and it takes plenty of steps to input your values, it’s hard to enter Mac addresses because the app expects certain format and there are no clear errors about what’s wrong with your input, turns out it needs punctuation to be manually added. Lastly even if you manage to add your information, it might refuse to try to wake a computer, and it doesn’t even specify what failed!

There are much better and free options on the App Store.

To the devs, please add some meaningful text on your error messages.

As for the MAC address field the value must have each of the six octet separated by either a colon or a hyphen for eg. 00-00-00-00-00-00 or 00:00:00:00:00:00.

Also, it is unfortunately not possible to display a specific error if the wake on LAN packet is not received due to the nature of the technology being based around the UDP protocol. The only error we can display is if the magic packet failed to send due to connection issues on you iOS device for example no error internet connection or no permissions to access the local network.
