Close to every dream and just as close to every nightmare lies the world of the Sin Lands, where icy winds bluster in the north, and the scorching sun beats down on the south. The forests are roamed by unsubdued tribes living peacefully with wolves and bears; and the seas and rivers are ploughed by merchant vessels and pirate ships. The tumble-down village huts are huddled in the cold grey mountains and the green meadows, crossed by wide roads where lazy caravans meander to their destinations. Behind the tall, sturdy walls of the cities, crowds of merchants, craftsmen, soldiers and beggars contribute to the daily tumult in the streets; touring theater companies put on their performances, and shady wizards offer magical items with a one-year warranty for a few gold pieces. In the ditches, happy runaway pigs roll in the dirt, sometimes joined by drunkards kicked out by an annoyed innkeeper or an angry wife. During the day, the inns and taverns are almost empty, but in the evening, they quickly fill up with tired and thirsty clients, bored idlers, wealthy spendthrifts, skillful thieves and entrepreneurial ladies of the night. Under the guise of darkness, the building rooftops and the dark alleys are lurked by shadowy figures who prefer to keep their business secret. Sometimes, they freeze and stoop down for a moment while the city guards pass by, their worn-out battered armors clinking with every step as they dream aloud of warm rum, flealess beds and affable wenches.

People in the Sin Lands wake up and start their days differently – some try to pursue their dreams, and others – to escape their nightmares. Each of their steps echo and leave a footprint, marking the beginning of yet another tale, a new legend or a fading memory.
