With its friendly approach and awesome updates, Duolingo’s long been one of our favorite apps for learning another language. Its secret: making the process genuinely fun. Engaging mini-games test your reading, writing, and speaking skills, and joining a club (where you can encourage and compete with others) adds a great social element. Bonus: all those languages and games are available for free!

What's going on lately?

I came here specifically to mention that duolingo has been acting funny recently. There have been a lot of bugs with the app, but more prominently the fact that I could not listen to recorded podcasts while on my way to work. The app only played a minute and crash, I kept experiencing the same crash consistently. It was only a matter of 1-2 minutes before the app crashes again, not only that but my phone would overheat. I've had my phone for over a year and a half now and I've never had a single app make it overheat like that. Honestly the overall experience as of lately has been weird, luckily I found a newly released update. I will be testing it ans updating this review later. I hope that all these bugs has been fixed.

Update: same crash when listening to a podcast. Also another thing I noticed, duolingo has been chunking up my battery as well. Duolingo devs, I haven't updated my os or done anything different, so whatever is happening with the app is clearly app-sided issues. Please fix them as soon as possible.

a girl who wants good grades ,

Duolingo has helped me learn many languages fluently, from basic phrases, to knowing how to start daily conversations, to knowing to speak them as if they were my mother tongue, I definitely recommend duolingo as they cover important aspects of many languages such as vocabulary, grammar, reading, etc

I have used Duolingo to learn French, and Swedish, I am currently doing the Spanish course on Duolingo, ( I did not entirely rely on Duolingo to learn those languages I used other tricks to help me, and consistency is key to seeing progress!)

Maintain your Duolingo streak and practice daily for at least 1 hour (more depending on the language or how fast you want to become fluent)

Read books in that language you are trying to learn (improves vocabulary)

Watch movies in the language (again helps with vocabulary and pronunciation)

Take notes (helps you with memorizing words, and put them into specific groups example: Greetings, food vocabulary, family vocabulary, etc)
