Too often missing related Latin languages.

When reading the examples of a word, we find related links to Italian, Spanish or French words but seldom we find references to the Catalan language, even in cases where the coincidence is higher.
Why such discrimination?
That’s my point of view as a Catalan native speaker.
In other aspects, I find very useful your app.

Developer Response ,

As a Dictionary, we record the language as it is used in the world. The English is a language with a significant amount of terms "borrowed" from other languages, and which incorporates loanwords straight into the language. It isn't a matter of "discrimination." Rather, it is a matter of how the English language came into being and has changed over time. Throughout time, English has a *significant* number of words adopted from French, German, and Latin – with lower numbers of loanwords or borrowings from various other languages. Learn more: https://www.dictionary.com/e/borrowed-words/. Some words move through two or three (or more) languages before they arrive at the point where they meet and were adopted into English. Lexicographers do their best to whittle down the word origin, based on the evidence at hand. However, some words have murky origins into the language.

But we can point to Catalan as the origin of a few English words, among them: "bandolier," "barrack," "lackey," and others!
Thanks for using our app!
