Wind Power Calculator helps estimate the available power generated by a windmill based on several key factors. The formula for available power in the wind is expressed as:

Pa = 1/2 ξ ρ A v^3

Where:
P = power (W)
ρ = air density (kg/m^3)
ξ = windmill efficiency (typically below 0.4 or 40%)
A = cross-sectional area perpendicular to the wind (m^2)
v = wind velocity (m/s)

Keep in mind that air density decreases with temperature and altitude, but the most significant factor in power generation is wind velocity. A mere 20% increase in wind velocity can boost power generation by a remarkable 73%.

The energy produced by a windmill depends on the power generation, as outlined above, and the frequency of wind speeds at the specific location—referred to as the 'wind speed frequency distribution.'
