Once a year software

I tried figuring out what is taking up 200gb in my "Other" folder. Manually went through files and gave up. I bought this app and found out that I had downloaded big files and they were taking up space in the "Other" folder. I managed to free up 150GB of space with Daisydisk. I think that I will not be using this app anymore, atleast not very often because it has very specific purpose.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback! I’m glad that DaisyDisk was helpful for you. As a side note, I think many users think that they’re not going to use the app often. But thanks to its speed and convenience, I personally find that I myself use it much more often than I thought I would) At any rate, low disk space is a real problem, especially on MacBooks, and having a handy app like DaisyDisk in your toolkit is definitely a good idea! Thanks for being our customer.

Useful app!

Very nice and useful. Interface intuitive and friendly. It helps a lot to find big storage files.

Why?

Ok, that was a nice little graphical breakdown of all the files here. I still can't delete any, just because I see them here, it doesn't show dependencies. I have to still check myself what those bigger ffiles are in their own app.

This was not worth 11e. It's great at this graph thing, but there are more sensitive apps to figure out what I can and can't delete. Try AppCleaner, that's more useful if fyou need to clean up. I think it's free, too.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback! DaisyDisk solves this kind of problem: shows you what are the ACTUAL big files on your disk, which is often far from obvious. By contrast, the "one button cleaners" simply remove files from a predefined list, and those files are not necessarily big. DaisyDisk provides you full information about a highlighted file: its name, size, context of its location, and its content preview – so that you can make an informed decision to delete the file (or keep it), and you can therefore quickly free up tens and hundreds of GBs.

Note also that the biggest space hogs are usually not application dependencies, but the files you create yourself in applications or files that you download. The user files should be one’s primary strategy to make room on disk. If at times you find a suspiciously big file that you don’t recognize as yours, you can google/ask our support whether it’s safe to delete. Removing app dependencies during uninstallation of an app is a slightly different task which does not really have the aim to free up disk space. Feel free to contact our support if you have suggestions or questions!
