Description

Discover more about the ECB's art collection and get a glimpse behind the scenes with the ECB Art App! As a young European institution, the ECB mainly collects upcoming contemporary artists from all over Europe.

With the ECB Art App, you can find out why the ECB collects art, see high-resolution images of over 40 artworks, read texts or listen to audio guides, and watch exclusive interviews with the artists.

Onsite you can use the image recognition function to scan the artwork and instantly view an in-depth information page specific to that artwork. To further enhance the art experience, Augmented Reality has been added to some artworks. When scanning the artwork you may find that a member of the ECB Art Committee suddenly appears to describe his or her feelings about the artwork.

When using the ECB Art App at home, you can watch the high-quality app-exclusive multimedia content comfortably by streaming it on your Apple TV or Chromecast. Navigating the app is easy and intuitive; you can search for specific artists or simply browse the different artworks via the main menu topics “Humans”, “Landscape & space”, “Site-specific art”, “Contemporary art from Estonia” and "Contemporary art from Croatia".

Are you curious to know why the topics are called “Humans” and” Landscape & space”? Watch the video at the beginning of each topic to find out more!

Each artwork can be favourited, and these artworks are collated for you so that you can revisit your favourite artworks again and again.

The ECB map shows the location of the exhibits and of the site-specific artworks. Have you ever looked at the landmark ECB building in Frankfurt and wondered about its history? In our architecture tour you can find a concise and fascinating account of how the prominent architects COOP Himmelb(l)au transformed the Grossmarkthalle from a wholesale market into the seat of the European Central Bank. Look at the map to see where the different artworks are located in the building, and spin it to let a random artwork appear!
