Description
It’s easy with the IKEA Home smart 1 app and TRÅDFRI gateway. Use one setting for early morning lighting and music, another for late evenings and a third for cooking or working at home.
You can dim, turn off, turn on, change colours and switch from warm to cold light. Raise or lower blinds. Turn on your music – then turn it up, turn it down or pause it. And you can even control your air purifier to improve the air quality at home.
With the IKEA Home smart 1 app, you can also connect to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa or Google Home and control it all with your voice.
What you’ll get with the IKEA Home smart 1 app and TRÅDFRI gateway:

Finally good
After being user for many years and adding over 30 devices this version finally seems to be decent without major problems.
One thing I still miss. Please make the wake up timers or schedulers remember the color shade that has been setup instead of using color that was last time used.
For example I like to wake up to a white light 4000k and go to bed with warmer shade 2700k. If i use the timer next day it will start with 2700k.
Sunrise/sunset timer doesn’t work
When trying to set it, gives an error ”update your gateway to the latest version”. But app says gateway has the latest version. So this ends up to endless loop
Confusing UI, buggy too
The UI of Home Smart 1 has been made overly complex. The user problem this app solves is simple, yet the UI makes menial tasks annoyingly difficult. A lot less UI is needed to view and edit a list of lists (album/photo, playlist/song pattern, anyone?).
I could live without using the app for anything but adding devices - but that is where bugs ruin the show. I keep adding lights and remotes that will not add to a group, and won’t work. Removing and re-adding lights doesn’t solve it either, and remotes just stop working, too.
So … I’m left with about 400€ worth of lights, gateways and remotes that don’t form a functioning whole. The quality aspect of smart lighting may not have been taken seriously enough at Ikea: people are used to lights ”just working”. Ikea Smart lights do not.
