The COVID certificate reader checks EU COVID certificates.

Finland uses EU COVID certificates as COVID passports. EU COVID certificates are available from the Omakanta service (certificate of vaccination against COVID, a certificate of a COVID test result, or certificate of having had a COVID infection).

The app user scans the COVID passport using a mobile device onto which the COVID certificate reader has been downloaded. The COVID certificate reader scans the QR code on the certificate, and the screen will display an accepted or rejected symbol.

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare is responsible for the app.

Use of the COVID certificate reader is voluntary. You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your phone.

The COVID certificate reader does not collect or store information about the certificates and it cannot view a person's health data. If the app reads the certificate as accepted, the person's name and date of birth will displayed, but not their personal ID number. If the certificate is rejected, no name, date of birth or personal identity number will appear on the screen. Statistics on the use of the application are collected anonymously for the authorities. Individual application users cannot be identified in the statistics.

Doesn’t always read valid certificates

The reader doesn’t always recognize and read new valid certificates even after reloading the keys and uploading the app. Has caused a lot of trouble and disappointments. Example: my reader always recognizes my daughter’s certificate but some other readers don’t, even after reloads and updates. FIX THIS NOW!

Helppo käyttöliittymä ja toimii nopeasti, myös hämärässä.
