Description

Stage Plot Maker helps you build clear, readable stage plots to communicate your band's technical requirements to a sound engineer. You can build a collection of stage plots for different kinds of gigs, then print or email them directly from your mobile device.

Running the app on a tablet is recommended for building stage plots. Once you build a stage plot, you can copy it to the phone app for quick access on the go.

Stage plots can include a diagram to show the placement of elements on stage; numbered input and output lists; a list of other required items like chairs and music stands; the name and photo of each performer; notes for the sound engineer; and your contact info.

Note that this app doesn't use pictures for small instruments like guitars, trumpets, etc. Instead, it uses symbols for the inputs that those instruments go into, like mics or DI boxes. You can label those inputs to show what instrument they are used for. This provides a streamlined display that shows sound engineers just what they need to set up the stage for you. The app does include symbols for large instruments like piano and drums that are typically placed on stage first with the inputs positioned around them. Please see the screen shots and demo video for examples.

Good bang for the buck

Easy and informative app for bands, techs & house guys. For smaller production (under 40 input channels) this is all you need to get your backline, drums, vocal & instrument mics and mic/XLR/DI channels in understandable, easy to read format. Add instruments. Then add Mic/XLR/DI and name them and give them numbers. Bang, you have a stage plot with input channels to send to your tech or venue. Add power outlets, furniture and other stuff and name them. Bang, you have a legend which tells what icon is what. And no 3D pictures of drums etc. makes this look nice and clean even after printing and faxing it to places. You don’t need fancy and muddy (after copyofacopyofacopy) 3D images, you need simply hard fact on the stage plan that anyone can understand after checking out the legend.

There’s some things I dislike: Save, always save when you do some edits. iPad’s toolbox resets the app for last saved, same goes with multitasking apps menu. iPhone version is too small to use. And the limit is 40 inputs, there’s room for more channels on the worksheet. I’d like to have the text part on another paper so I could fit more stuff on the worksheet. It should be choosable from options to have it all on one sheet or different sheets. Also more furniture and instruments and just basic shapes would add more usability. Rectangular shapes, different riser sizes, drumpad, laptop, icons for conventional, moving and strobe fixture and so on.

I Still give this a 5 star review. It has made my work easier lately.
