What’s New
Version 3.0.2
This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.
3.0.2: Minor patch for 3.0.
3.0: Welcome to Super Hexagon 3.0! This new version supports iPhoneX, brings 120 FPS support to ProMotion enabled iPads (iPad Pro 2017+), and supports iOS 11.3. This is all possible thanks to our new GLKit renderer, which should also bring faster performance and increased battery life to all devices!
In addition, you can now also play the game on iPad Pro smart keyboards (as well as the existing support for MFI controllers.)
Thank you so much for playing Super Hexagon. I hope you enjoy the update!
Ratings and Reviews
Editors’ Notes
Terry Cavanagh’s Super Hexagon is quite simply one of the most challenging games we’ve ever played. A pulsating chiptunes soundtrack underscores the danger as swirling walls close in around you and you race to escape the contracting maze. With the geometric action heaping on the punishment (the easiest difficulty is appropriately labelled “Hard”), every small achievement feels like a massive victory, whether you’re topping your high score or overcoming a singularly tricky section.
Awesome but…
The game is awesome, it's addictive, very well thought-out and highly loveable. Now, the first three stages (hard, harder and hardest) are great, they do work really well. Especially love the excitement and the stress on the hardest. However, the only reason refraining me from awarding this game 5 stars is the fact that the game's dynamics simply don't work (at all) at the ridiculous speeds of the hyper mode stages. I did make it, multiple times, up to around 20 second on hardester, after which the game started presenting me with simply impossible challenges, such as stationing the exit gap of a labyrinth straight towards the back of a hexagon whose exit gap is 180 degrees on the other side. Add the speed of the game to that and you end up with something you simply can't get out of. So, being able to finish hardester and friends is all about getting really really lucky, which kind of blows considering it's unfair.
Oh well, a good game nonetheless.
