Description
Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.
It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and keeps videos playing in the background.
Note: The "can read information from webpages" text in the permission section is just unfortunate wording. Vinegar needs access to the web page to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!
(By the way, check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's basically a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites other than YouTube.)

Ratings and Reviews
Great
Does exactly what it promises. I used to use AdGuard to block YouTube ads, but in Safari 16 it has been struggling to do that. Thankfully this extension completely gets rids of them.
Works but kinda annoying
Still works after the adblock crackdown and this does not spy your passwords in other sites than Youtube, unlike many other adblocks which is great. However it makes youtube more slow and the video quality does not seem as sharp. Always when pausing video for long time and playing again, it randomly moves to other part of the video. Kinda 50/50 if this is more or less annoying than keeping the youtube ads on.
Not working properly
Unfortunately, it causes freezes and skips in the playback.
