I own a 2022 fully electric XC40. There are three things you can do with this app: check the battery level, unlock and lock the car (including setting the alarm system to "lower protection" and toggle climate control. That’s it.No drive log, no electricity consumption tracking, no programming of climate control schedules, no way to change the battery maximum charge level, no localisation of the car, no way to switch on lights or horn, no data history on the cars vitals (tyres air pressure, washer fluid levels, service intervals reminders etc), no data exports, no apple watch companion app. These features are offered by many brands and by Volvo themselves on other - petrol - cars. The onboarding experience isn’t very nice. During car delivery at the dealership, the sales rep had me enter the cars VIN number in the app (that is displayed on the car’s on-board screen), Two attempts were necessary due to capitalisation. There are no lower case letters in a VIN number. Why is this field case sensitive? Why not showing a QR code with this identifier like google or spotify do for their onboarding?Then the app didn’t work entirely. I couldn’t change the climate control settings, nor see the battery level. It’s only after deleting the app from my phone and re-pairing it that it finally worked. This was also an adventure. After I had deleted the app from my phone, I went on the car google made OS to unlink the volvo cars app from my user profile. Turned out that can only be done from the Volvo cars app. I was stuck in a loop. I had to create another user on the car’s OS, link this user profile with the volvo car app on my phone, and delete the temporary user profile from the car. This shouldn’t have worked but it did and no I can finally see my car’s battery levels. The car is fantastic. This app can do much better.

You can now tap the car image on the Home screen to spin your Volvo to a different angle and pick the view you like best - so your Home screen always looks just the way you want it. We’ve also enhanced the maintenance view to make it more useful. And for our Plug-in Hybrid drivers: we’ve heard your feedback. The Home screen now displays your battery range, fuel range, and total range much more clearly than before.
