GAME
OF THE
DAY
Earth Atlantis
Deep dive & hunt sea monsters
In Earth Atlantis, human civilization has fallen after global warming submerges most of the world’s surface. Bummer. This vast sea is also filled with machines resembling marine animals that attack everything in sight. Mega-bummer. Your job is to clear them out. Colossal bumm— actually, no, that part’s pretty cool.
Playing as a “hunter,” you dive into the deep, navigating a tiny submarine through the sunken wreckage of former cities and avoiding explosive mines. This 2D side-scroller unleashes you on a massive maze of a map—one littered with power-ups and monsters begging to be destroyed by them.
For a game set in the future, Earth Atlantis has an intriguing art style—sketched out and black-and-white, with an old-fashioned steampunk vibe. It’s unexpected, yet works with the premise. The underwater setting really does feel otherworldly and foreboding.
As you explore this murky unknown, upgrade your sub’s weapons with electric beams, torpedoes, and homing missiles—just what you need to take down thousands of enemies.
The game’s epic battles pit you against foes (like a terrifying electric squid) that fill the screen and will annihilate you with a few quick hits. Which is, actually, a colossal bummer.
