Badland Brawl

Explosive realtime PvP brawler

Plenty’s happened since tiny Finnish studio Frogmind released its beautiful, brilliant debut Badland in 2013.

It unleashed an equally wonderful sequel in 2015, and ever since it has constantly added new stages, social features and level creation tools to both games.

Then, in 2016, friendly Helsinki neighbour Supercell came calling to buy a majority stake in the studio. And you can see the influence of the Clash Royale maker everywhere in Frogmind’s first “post-Supercell” game: Badland Brawl.

Badland Brawl is all about flinging troops into the fray and watching the mayhem unfold.

In fact, you might pithily describe it as Clash Royale meets Badland – you’ve got the card-based, realtime battling and tower defence of Supercell’s monster hit, mixed with the characters, side-on view and bouncy movement from the Badland games.

It makes for lively skirmishes, that’s for sure. As you fling your characters into the fray (just like in Angry Birds – another Finnish classic) they bounce off your opponent’s troops – and each other – in a remarkably satisfying way. It’s the physics powering each troop’s movement and momentum that does it. It makes Brawl’s battles feel really loose, freeform and pleasingly chaotic.

With this much happening on-screen, Brawl is as entertaining to watch as it is to play. It’s no surprise, then, to discover a whole in-game video service, BadTube, that allows you to watch recent battles between other players. Watch a few scraps and maybe you’ll learn a new strategy or two from higher-level players.

With so many different characters to find and upgrade, plus daily trials and Tribes to join, this is a game designed to be played over weeks, months – even years.

With Brawl, Supercell has helped supercharge the Badland universe to become something bigger and bolder than ever before. Get battling.
