Bike Unchained 2

Just Send It!

You’d expect a mountain bike game from Red Bull to be fast. You’d expect it to have a heavy guitar soundtrack. And you’d expect it to feature people with odd names who probably say things like “sick” and “gnarly”. Bike Unchained 2 does all of those things, and that’s part of its charm.

Bike Unchained 2 is a downhill racer with familiar levelling: you start off with a basic bike and as you progress, you earn currency you can spend on beefing up your ride. In addition to the expected forks and frames you can spend money on getting the right outfit too; and here the character creator is as comprehensive for female players as it is for the boys.

Learning the tracks will be key to your success.

Tutorials introduce the simple controls: tap and hold to increase your downhill speed, let go to jump, tap repeatedly to pedal uphill and tap at the right time when your bike’s flying through the sky to land.

It’s really easy to learn but the tracks get very interesting very quickly, requiring a good mix of strategy and sharp reflexes to beat the other riders.

Sticking big tricks will earn you boosts.

Playing against real players adds a welcome edge to every race, and it’s seriously satisfying to see your name ranked above real rivals and not computer-generated opponents.

Extreme sports you can play from your sofa? Now that’s our idea of sick.
