ManagdWALplus 4+

Information kiosk locked-down web reader with remote MDM administration of content and settings, with optional heartbeat messages with battery & RAM status, site ID etc.

Typically installed on permanently installed iPads at labs, tourist information kiosks, emergency booths and other places where the correct information must be available, and where it may a need to document that it is available. Startup web pages are selectable with top-row quick-select buttons. Also offers automatic (non-use timer) or manual reset (button) to administrator defined startup web pages.

A menu row on top of the app contains the web content access buttons, with a short web page title for each button. Titles and web links are configured by the MDM admin. Multiple languages are supported. In addition to titles, web content access buttons can be defined with individual size, font and color, along with the correct URLs for each language.

ManagdWALplus offers built-in screensaver functionality with customizable screen dimming, with instant-on operation once the screen is touched, without a need to log in. An optional not-in-use (idle) timer triggers "goto startup pages".

Settings are controlled by Intune, ManageEngine and other MDM (UEM/EMM) systems. MangdWALplus can use heartbeat messages (https / JSON), and thus warn of low memory and low battery to a system monitoring server. If heatbeat is missing, this will indicate device or communication malfunction, and can trigger an alert.

All settings have sensible defaults, which means that you only have to define the titles and startup links of the web content buttons to get up and running. All in all 190 settings can be overridden, using the MDM system, such as fonts, colors, sizes of the web page selection buttons.

Early adopters have typically managed nicely with a XML file of a few dozens of lines, relying on the default settings.

Note that no privacy / GDPR sensitive data are collectedt, when ManagdWALplus is used as intended for information-kiosk purposes. However, since heartbeats can be used to generate statistics of uptime and simple number-of-presses per tab use, a mandatory user message (which can be tailored to your liking) will be triggered, if such anonymous usages statistics are gathered in the app (configurable).
