Bon logiciel de montage, mais des bugs insupportables

Depuis sa version 10.3, FCPX a été enrichie de fonctionnalités bien pratiques, notamment la possibilité de travailler sur différents espaces de travail que l’on configure en fonction de ses besoins et de sa façon de travailler. Bien que son interface a été presque complètement revue, il reste très intuitif, n’a pas perdu en rapidité d’exécution par rapport aux versions précédentes et il plante peu sur mon Macbook Pro équipé de 16Go de RAM.

Côté obscur : il gère très mal l’espace disque, les vidéos montées occupant une place énorme. Fort heureusement, il existe un utilitaire bien pratique : Final Cut Library Manager, dont on ne comprend pas que les fonctions qu’il apporte ne soient pas intégrées au logiciel d’Apple. En outre, un bug irritant est apparu depuis quelques (edit de novembre 2018) : le contenu supplémentaire se met à jour de manière incessante. Dès que la nouvelle version est installée, elle réapparaît en mise à jour conseillée dans l’App Store. Bien qu’ils soient efficaces et réactifs, les conseillers du support Apple n’ont pas de solutions valables à proposer…

Simplicité et professionnalisme!

Logiciel « made in Apple » donc que dire de plus…la stabilité, la simplicité, l’érgonomie de FCPX sont excellentes (notamment sur iMac). C’est un logiciel de montage professionnel accessible à tous sur le plan financier (avec de loin le meilleur rapport qualité/prix), comme pratique, puisque la prise en main de la plupart de ses fonctions est immédiate, ce qui n’est pas le cas des logiciels concurrents tels que ceux d’Adobe ou Blackmagic. Pour ce qui est des fonctions plus poussées, leurs découvertes et utilisations sont empiriques et deviennent très rapidement accessibles à tous.
Reste cependant un ou deux points noirs : pas de ponts dirrects et immédiats entre FCPX et Motion5 ; et une partie étalonnage moins pratique et moins poussée que chez la concurrence si l’on achète pas de plugins externes comme ColorFinale (légèrement handicapant dans mon cas)

Simple, puissant, fluide

J’avais déjà appréhender le montage avec iMovie et tenté de pousser le bouchon plus loin avec Hitfilm qui a finit par me décevoir.
Final Cut Pro X était dans mon colimateur et j’ai franchi le pas pour mes premiers montages à destinations d’entrreprises.
Bien m’en a pris.
En peu de mot :
• Les avantages :
- gestion des rushs
- timeline magnétique
- des plugins, pleins de plugins disponibles !
- ultra puissant combiné avec Motion
- optimisation et utilisation intelligente des capacités du Mac (pas de lag, export rapide, montage 4k les doigts dans le nez…)
- Les outils de colorimétries sont très bons et pleins d’options sont disponibles. Whow, le jour et la nuit avec la version précédente !
- la gestion des pistes sonores est bonne, je manquais de recul sur ce point. Je n’ai pas eu d’opportunité de faire un mixage complexe.
• Les moins
- les options d’exportation de projet sont limités sans Compressor. Franchement, c’est assez désagréable de devoir acheter Compressor pour faire un export 4K basique…

Si on est conscient des limites de FCPX, on ne peut néanmoins pas faire la fine bouche devant ses très grandes qualités.
