Description

LoCAD is a software for designing and simulating digital circuits.
Special emphasis is given to simple creation and graphical visualization of a circuit's functioning.

The inputs and outputs of the elements can be wired quite simply.
Usually, two touches are sufficient. The system searches a convenient way by itself.

In the simulation, you can watch the current flow and thus follow the cycle of state changes.
This way, your understanding of a circuit's functioning is enhanced, and your perception of circuit faults is improved.

It is possible to produce your own elements (ICs) with discretionary levels of nesting.
Like this, you can build big and complex circuits in a clearly arranged way. During the simulation, you can watch the state changes in all ICs.

A detailed introduction facilitates your familiarisation with the software.

Version 7.6

This update fixes a display error in the IC interior view.
Due to a programming error when hiding dummy leads (see version 7.0), some short leads that lead to component connections are not displayed in the internal view of ICs.
As this is only a display problem, it has no effect on the function of the ICs.

Could be great after many fixes

At least 3 things why I would not buy the full version (oh and lite version is limited to 13 elements ) :

First of, there is a bug with the most basic gate in the sim : the OR gate works half the time, it’s very frustrating because you spent time to understand why your circuit won’t work, then rebuild circuit again from a « New » sheet, and for some reason it works. After it happened a few times I found that the OR gate was just not working properly...

Second : the « Undo » button should not disappear after one tap but stay (and record at least the last 10 changes... come on this is an iPad not 1991 Microsoft Word)

Third, there is just overall an ergonomic issue with the controls, for example, when you’re drawing a wire there is no simple way to cancel the selection. You have to create an error or draw the wire then undo it (selecting another element should cancel wire drawing for example) another example is the constant pop up and extra tap you need confirm to delete objets (if we mess up, we should just be able to click undo !!!) . And why switch between elements and edit ?? Why not leave all the edit functions always visible new to the element button ? Better yet, leave the elements window open until we want it closed. Also having to turn off a line before being able to delete it is so annoying.

TL,DR :
If this was free, it’d be a great app (except for the OR gate bug which is not acceptable) apart from the ergonomic design flaws (but as a free app, you can’t ask too much), but because this is a paying app, all those flaws are imo not acceptable, so 1 star.
