Mastodon is the largest decentralized social network on the internet. Join a community and create your profile. Find and and follow fascinating folks and read their posts in an ad-free, chronological timeline. Express yourself with custom emoji, images, GIFs, videos, and audio in 500-character posts. Reply to threads and reblog posts from anyone to share great stuff. Find new accounts to follow and trending hashtags to expand your network.
Mastodon is built with a focus on privacy and safety. Decide whether your posts are shared with your followers, just the people you mention, or the whole world. Content warnings let you hide posts containing sensitive or triggering material until you're ready to engage with them. Each community has its own guidelines and moderators to keep its members safe, and robust blocking and reporting tools help prevent abuse.

Version 2024.5
Hey there! Welcome to the 2024.5 release of Mastodon for iOS. It's been a while but we worked on lots of bug fixes and (minor) improvements since the last version.
2024.5 comes with this:
- We fixed some issues with the new, fancy "New Posts"-pill. For example, it disappears now if you scroll to top (like it is supposed to) (GH-1278)
- Remember the screen to login when you have an existing account? We made the server selection more elegant (IOS-226)
- Also related to Onboarding: We slightly updated the Privacy-screen and improved Keyboard-handling. (IOS-221)
- You can finally change your profile picture again from the app. We introduced a bug in one of the last versions, but got it fixed with 2024.5. Sorry for any inconveniences. Now go and update your profile picture! (GH-1276)
- Don't want to miss any content, but missed the "Load More"-button between posts? Great news: We found and fixed a bug so that it's finally there again, so you don't miss any of the great content any longer! (IOS-266)
- We improved the stability of the app by reducing the crashes. Promise! (IOS-257, IOS-254)
- If there's a loooooong toot with a Content Warning, we limited the height of that Content Warning. (IOS-278)
- We fixed a bug related to polls: Your own choice is visible now (GH-1278)
- The avatar-image in the bottom bar doesn't flicker anymore when switching tabs (IOS-238)
- The menus for both profiles and toots got an update (IOS-231, IOS-229)
- We removed some clutter on the Mentions-screen (IOS-270)
- Once it'll be available on your instance, you'll see moderation warnings on the Notification-screen if you someone complained about you (IOS-264)

Un bug très énervant
L’appli est excellente bien qu’il soit un peu difficile de s’y retrouver dans les questions/réponses. Le plus énervant est sans doute l’absence de possibilité de dépassement du nombre de caractères limité pour un post. Si l’admin a décidé de limiter à 500 caractères au 500 e cette appli vous jette et il n’y a aucun moyen de récupérer le contenu que vous étiez en train de rédiger. Heureusement il y a un compteur de caractères mais c’est quand même très frustrant d’avoir si peu de souplesse rédactionnelle.
Avec de Deepl inside
Pour un utilisateur qui ne souhaite pas de fonctions expertes, l’app Mastodon est épatante. Si elle n’intègre pas encore la possibilité d’éditer un pouët mais juste de le supprimer, l’arrivée de l’outil de traduction Deepl (en lieu et place des outils proposés par Google ou autres) est un sacré point marqué.
Deepl est déjà proposé depuis quelques semaines dans la version web mais le retrouver ici est épatant. C’est un produit que j’emploie quotidiennement et auquel je me suis abonné tant je suis satisfait.
Bref, au milieu des alpha et betas en cours de développement, l’app iOS de Mastodon garde le cap sans esbroufe.
Un peu plus pour la 5ème étoile
Bonjour, l’application est fluide et simple d’utilisation donc bon travail aux développeurs ! Je ne mets pas 5 étoiles car pour moi il manque la possibilité d’afficher le fil public local, fil public global et surtout les listes. (Si jamais la fonctionnalité existe et que je l’ai pas trouvée je rectifierai ma note)
