The free SwitzerlandMobility app (for iPhone and iPad) is the perfect app for anybody who is out and about in Switzerland either in summer or winter..
- maps of Switzerland from swisstopo (the best) up to a scale of 1:10,000
- 32,000 km signposted non-motorized routes (national, regional and local)
- complete network of signposted hiking trails (60,000 km)
- 600 routes for winter activities
- 25,000 public transportation stops linked to the timetable of the Swiss Federal Railways (planning a tour with public transportation was never easier)
- information on 4,500 points of interest on the way, such as overnight accommodations, bicycle service stations, etc.

On purchasing a SwitzerlandMobility Plus subscription you can additionally:
- use and save swisstopo maps for areas without network coverage (no more problems with dead zones)
- Recording tours (GPS tracking)
- download and store tours you designed, including elevation profile, hiking time, distance and altitudes (separately and easily)
Technical information
- The app requires network coverage (useable without network coverage with SwitzerlandMobility Plus).

Rien à redire (ou presque)
Utilisée pendant 10 jours à vélo à travers la Suisse, j'ai trouvé l'application quasi idéale. Le fait d'avoir accès à la cartographie au 25 000e de Swisstopo est géniale de précision, en particulier les courbes de niveau sur les routes, qui permettent de visualiser tout de suite le pourcentage de la pente, tous les 10 m d'altitude.
Seul problème un peu troublant : c'est génial de pouvoir zoomer exactement comme on veut, mais on finit par perdre la notion des distances. Heureusement, il y a une échelle en bas de l'écran : un segment représente sur le terrain 1,5 km, ou 300 m, par exemple. Conseil : prendre l'habitude de se limiter à 2 ou 3 échelles seulement comme références. Un symbole serait bienvenu pour indiquer quelle échelle de Swisstopo est utilisée pour le rendu graphique.
Par ailleurs, les indications d'hébergement sont très incomplètes. Il y a heureusement plus de possibilités que celles indiquées. Attention toutefois : il y a peu de campings en Suisse, excepté dans certains coins très touristiques.
Peut mieux faire
Les fonds de carte sont superbes (topographie, précision), merci swisstopo. Par contre l’app SuisseMobile est pauvre en fonctionnalités, peu fiable (on perd des tuiles de cartes par des déconnexions intempestives). Dommage que swisstopo ne vende pas ses données à d’autres éditeurs, comme iPhiGéNie qui est la référence en cartographie ambulante.
Extraordinaire
Une superbe réussite. Toutes les cartes en accès libre, chemins de randos/velo/roller/canoë en vectoriel, transports en commun avec horaires en temps réel etc...
Très très belle réalisation dont les Français devraient s'inspirer.
