Free translator that can work offline and translate text from photos
• Translate between any pair of the 100 languages when you’re online.
• Translate from French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and other languages to English while offline: download these languages for free and enable the offline mode in Settings.
• Speak words or phrases in Russian, English, or Turkish to translate them into any of these languages, or have the app read the translations to you.
• Learn new words and their meanings through usage examples in the app’s dictionary (available for most of the currently supported languages).
• Take a picture of a menu, road sign, book page or choose a photo with text from your Camera Roll to view its translation right over the image (only available when you are online).
• Translate entire sites directly in the app or in Safari.
• Read books, news, or articles in a foreign language together with Yandex.Translate on your iPad using Split View.
• Read transliterated Arabic, Armenian, Farsi, Georgian, Greek, Hebrew, Korean, Japanese, or Chinese Pinyin.
• Enjoy the app’s time-saving predictive typing function and automated language detection.
• Save translations in Favorites and view your translation history at any time.
• Speak to your Apple Watch to see your words translated on its screen.

Encore meilleure l'app Google translate. Beaucoup plus ergonomique et les traductions sont plus complètes avec la possibilité de créer des favoris et des cartes de mémorisation.

Yandex, le géant russe, nous pond ici un logiciel très abouti et régulièrement mis-à-jour. Il fonctionne en 94 langues, ce qui devrait suffire au commun des mortels. Vous avez la possibilité de choisir des paires de langues régulièrement utilisées (ex : français-russe) et de télécharger les dictionnaires ce qui permet de l’utiliser dans le pays hors connexion.
Il fait également la reconnaissance de la langue d’entrée, le texte de photo (pratique pour le chinois !). Bref très bon niveau.
J’ai cependant un regret si je le compare à Léo (pour l’allemand uniquement) ou à Lingvo (payant) : il ne présente pas lorsque l’on tape un verbe sa conjugaison, ni les déclinaisons d’un nom.

Le meilleur pour moi
Je ne dis pas que les autres sont nuls, mais après les avoir tous essayé, celui-ci est le seul à correspondre exactement à mes besoins qui ne sont ni pro, ni juste occasionnels. De plus : le seul à avoir l’ergonomie idéale pour traduire des sites web simplement, sur un terminal mobile, sans se prendre la tête pour comprendre la manipulation. Pourrait être qualifié de : traducteur multifonctions pour les nuls 😉👍🏻car il fonctionne exactement comme un navigateur libre avec le plugin adéquat d’un PC de bureau.
