Description

File sharing between an iPhone and iTunes has always been a hassle. It's really difficult to transfer one file over a USB cable since iOS doesn't readily show your filesystem inside iTunes.

Instead, iTunes shows application files, and you must use an application folder to transfer anything in iTunes. The main problem is that there is no dedicated application to create a folder for file sharing and nothing else. FileBridge solves this problem.

At its core, FileBridge allows you to share files through iTunes or Finder via the File Sharing menu.

It’s really easy to get started:
- Open FileBridge once to initialize the folder
- Open files on your iDevice
- Put the file you want to transfer in the FileBridge folder
- Connect a cable and open iTunes/Finder
- Navigate to File Sharing
- Drag and drop the file from the FileBridge menu into your PC explorer

However, we can take this principle one step further. What if you can see all your documents by simply plugging in your phone, opening iTunes/Finder, and navigating to file sharing?

Enter PseudoFS. This feature moves (or copies) your documents from the “On my iPhone” directory into the FileBridge folder. With this feature, you can access all your files from iTunes/Finder without having to perform millions of move operations for a bulk file transfer.

Now these features may sound complicated to get started with, but I anticipated this and included a bunch of how-to guides in-app. These are conveniently located in the “guides” tab of the application and you can get started with FileBridge in no time.

There is also an iMessage extension to attach your files without ever leaving iMessage!

The app is free and 100% open sourced: https://github.com/bdashore3/FileBridge

Happy transferring!
