Description
- Easy Logic Gate Manipulation
Add, move or delete groups of gates using intuitive touch or mouse gestures. There's no need for clutter or fuss — just drag and build.
Stay organised by naming your gates and applying colour labels. This is perfect for keeping track of functions and improving circuit readability.
- Chip System
Pack a group of gates into a self-contained chip with defined inputs and outputs. These chips act as your own custom logic components, making them perfect for building scalable systems such as D-flip, adder, register, program counter, ALU and more.
- Waveform Viewer
Visualise how signals change over time. Debug and understand the behaviour of circuits.
- Share Your Creation
Share circuits or clips with others by exporting them. This is great for teaching or showing off your designs.
- Cross-Platform
It is available on multiple platforms iOS, iPadOS and MacOS.
Welcome to your first digital breadboard — an app designed to help beginners, students and curious minds explore the foundations of computer science by building and experimenting.
This app lets you design and simulate logic circuit diagrams in real time. Using this tool, you can build an 8-bit computer from simple logic gate by creating and connecting circuits that perform specific functions. For example, you can create combinational circuits for arithmetic and logic operations (ALU).
With a built-in frequency generator and number display, you can focus on designing your circuits. You can draw, analyse and simplify logic gate networks by hand, without soldering any wires or breaking any breadboards.
Let's experience building a computer from the ground up. You can start with the basic logic gate (NOT, AND, OR and XOR) and work up to chips with specific functions such as D-flip, JK-flip, Full Adder, Program Counter, Register, Bridge and Memory. Then assemble them into a complete computer through the bridge.
This is for you if you're a software engineer or developer who wants to understand the computer system by delving one level deeper than assembly.
If you are interested in state machines or computer theory, such as finite automata, this is for you!
Build, connect and understand — don't be afraid of Verilog - Hardware Description Language (HDL)! Whether you are in high school, college or university, this is for you!
● Why I Built This App
I used to wonder how electronics did their computing until I learned about transistors and understood the physical process of switching them on or off. I taught myself the basics of computer science and became a software engineer. I was inspired to do so after watching Ben Eater's 'Building an 8-bit breadboard computer' video. If the tool had been more inviting and easier to understand, I might have started my journey earlier and not had to try multiple times.
It’s a hands-on learning tool that helps you explore computer engineering principles by simulating the process of building an 8-bit computer from scratch — starting from just four basic logic gates.
Whether you're trying to grasp concepts from your Computer Systems course or just curious about how computers really work under the hood, this app offers a low-barrier, high-reward way to learn by doing — no risk of fried chips or tangled wires.
Designed specifically with touchscreen interaction in mind, the experience is intuitive and tactile — drawing out your ideas directly onto a digital breadboard
- Have fun building circuits from your fingertips.
- I'd love to hear how you use this application so I can continue to improve it and add more features.
