Highly invasive data capture and unusable without
I downloaded the app for use while on holiday in China, but it has proven completely unusable. Apple Maps (for iPhone users) and bing maps are much better alternatives.
The app constantly prompts me to create an account and log in, with no option to opt out of that. By constantly I mean for every click on every single landmark a window pops up asking the user to register an account. (I thought that was limited to scammy websites from the 00s but apparently I’m wrong.)
Further, when creating an account it requires you to bind your phone number to that account, which I consider to have no justifiable purpose for a map app whose purpose is to show recommendations and navigate. This is highly invasive and again, no option to use the app without doing so.
