Description

yeah, we know. there are a ton of apps like ours… but we’re different. promise. everyone missed disposable cameras, so we brought that experience to your iphone, with one twist: the look and feel of film, with a modern edge.

it’s super easy, too! just open the app, snap a photo, and BAM. there’s your “i didn’t have to take 23 other pictures and wait 3 weeks to get them all developed and scan them just to post on instagram” photo. premium users have quite an advantage, though… they can upload any photo from their camera roll, and so much more. basically if you love editing photos of harry styles for your theme page or stan twitter account, you may want to consider premium.

we now also offer another in app purchase that allows you to have your 1888 filtered photos printed and sent right to your doorstep, so say goodbye to waiting 3 weeks for CVS to call you back.

if you have any questions, artistic input, complaints, want to see which photos we’re sharing, or simply need a stranger to talk to when you can’t sleep on a school night, follow us on instagram and twitter: @1888app

What’s New

Version 2.0

we're excited for this one... you can now print your photos on 1888 for $1 each. just open the camera roll and tap print photos to get high quality matte photos prints shipped to your door.

It’s good but one problem

I like the app a lot, i mostly take pictures with my friends on this app.
I payed for premium which was very cheap but when I upload a pic off my iPhone camera then It gets flipped upside down 🤷🏼‍♀️
But if I take a picture that I have took on Snapchat and upload it then it’s fine.

Promising

Overall it’s a great little app to take cool ‘aesthetic’ and ‘vintage’ photos, I won’t deny that but it’s not in any way groundbreaking but perhaps that wasn’t the intention.

It’s pretty much exact to Huji app and I’m aware the intent was to make the app similar but take away the secrecy but huji hasn’t been a ‘secret’ app for a long time? The layout is the same as is the overall effect and so I question the need to have an app so similar to it at all?

I have both and fail to find much differences other than slight tonal and colour differences and I appreciate the 1888 creator’s efforts to find colouring to suit more skin types but I still feel it hasn’t fully achieved its full potential as an app. It shows great promise but overall has not ‘wowed’ me like I was expecting it to but I feel there is room for improvement and new ideas to make it better but other than that it you’re looking for a simple photo app to take grungy pics it’s pretty simple and user friendly.

Shipping

Absolutely love this app, but the only problem is it solely ships to the US. I think expanding where you ship would be great for the app!
