4x4 Jam 4+

This game is one of the best driving style games I have played in the app store. The handling, like most driving games, takes a little getting used to buy it won't take you long. I like the way you don't have an accelerate button, it just goes, all you have to worry about is the brake button and on such a small screen it's a godsend.

Fantastic number of courses, decent amount of vehicles to unlock, ok graphics. Good game overall. Of course there is always room for improvement, like any game. But it's a very good effort.

Perhaps in the future there could actually be a championship table so you have to beat AI players across a season and not just win a race to unlock the next course?

DEVS: Couple of bugs I have found:

1) crashed on start up, had to reload
2) on easy, after 2nd course race finished, using a black beetle, the result screen appeared with the continue button at the bottom. It would not let me click the continue button at all. The screen just hung. Not good. Hope it's not a regular bug.
3) I noticed on a previous review someone said it does not save on exit. I hope it does. Just about to check now...if not...deleted!

Overall. Great game. Improvements to the gameplay would be good, although I suspect the type of improvements needed would be a whole new game (4x4 Jam: Rewired ?)

This game is really fun, complete open world with loads of race modes, free roam and many trucks to use as well as a basic but fun single player staged to play through.
There are multiple camera views including a first person head cam which is very enjoyable.
The graphics are fairly good but the car physics are a bit silly with too soft suspension and difficult steering especially on the beetle style 4x4

It would be good if there was some mud effects on the vehicle when you are driving as it would be great to get them dirty and damaged
Maybe more effective game modes like Rally with a fixed track as the current races are difficult to follow because of the lack of easily visible barriers.
It would be 5* if there was multiplayer mode.

Overall you will most likely enjoy this if you are into rally/off-road games although do not expect amazing graphics. Worth the purchase.

I used to play a lot of Invictus' old PC game 1nsane, and this appears to borrow a lot from it, including the excellent vehicle physics. The updates they've added to this game since I first wrote my review have negated my criticisms about having too few vehicles/game modes/environments/game modes. The career mode is a welcome addition that has made the game much more fun and given it a bit of a structure, so you now feel like you're actually achieving goals of some kind rather than racing simply for the sake of it. Now ranks along Real Racing as best racer on iPhone/iPod Touch, and only the lack of an analogue stick stops it being better than PSP racers.
