As a victim of an illegal and immoral expropriation of all my business and personal assets by the Mauritius government in 2015. I initiated an international arbitration case against that government. The tribunal finally ruled it was incompetent to deal with the case.
I made a request to Brussels to set aside the ruling. I am waiting for March 2020 for the final ruling. Academia has helped me understand the arbitral implications when a case like mine relating to treaties between two states. In my case I am a national of both countries. My case is well documented. CAR refers to the story.
There are still quite a number of States evading settling Arbitrations sentences against them. Mauritius is in the middle of such a case of refusal to pay the winning party. Arbitration was held in Singapore. Betamax/Mauritius.
Information without the drama
I have been somewhat addicted to academic papers for a while now. In the news-as-entertainment age, it is incredibly important to find people who are committed to research. I have found that here. Between my love for psychology and my passion for international security studies, I could not afford to keep up with my research in any other way. The cost benefits of having access to academic research without the constraints of journal subscriptions makes an easy justification for the purchase. The added benefit of peer interaction makes this subscription an easy choice for me.

For the type of obscure research that I do my website on Academia is the only way I can reach a worldwide audience (35 countries at the last count). It gives me credibility and reach that no other medium could. The app is a great way of reading my downloads library on the move and keeping up to date with my readers. Like Academia itself it is brilliantly simple but effective.
