Adobe Digital Editions 4+

I have to use Adobe Digital Editions to download library e-books to my old e-reader but it is so completely pointless and difficult to use that I am pretty much tearing my hair out. Yes I can just as well read the library books on my iPad but I quite like the e-reader as it’s much more like reading a real book with no distractions (email, games, news, messages …….) Now it suddenly just says download failed and when I try to return the book in BorrowBox to the library it won’t let me as it says I have to use ADE. I try to find how to return it through the ADE app but there seems to be no return button (or I couldn’t find it in the app even after extensive google searches) I did discover how to delete the books in ADE but that didn’t help at all as now I have no books in the app to return! Such a stupid, user unfriendly, unintuitive, pointless ….. need I say more.

I had to use this app to read some scripts that are in epub format, and all was well for a while, and then errors started to creep in such as blank pages, corrupted script, and pages not rendered properly. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app, re downloaded the books, but the errors are still there. And now the IOS 15 upgrade has broken it completely. Come on Adobe, you can do better than that, I’ve had to buy the paper versions of the books, so I’ve ended up buying them twice. Not good enough!
A thorough rework of this app is needed if you expect people to use it to read material they’ve paid for, because there’s a a good chance they won’t be able to. Not what I expected from Adobe.

It seems adobe are more interested in other areas and neglecting this one. I recently ended my subscription with them because of this. This app, appears to duplicate all my books and then prevents me from opening them at times and some pages appear blank. The only thing I have been able to fix to see them, is the colour when you tap the page, pressing the right hand sand gives you a cream background and this fixes it, but overall the app is terrible. Unfortunately I have just started using this having used VLE ebooks but they have pulled the app as in talks with apple! What an amazing platform no issues...such a shame.
