Note:
Albums optionally integrates with Apple Health. If you choose to give Albums access to your Workout history, it can create "Workout Jams" Insight Collections, which match up your listening history to your exercise history. You can enable this functionality by going to the Insights tab and tapping the settings gear next to the "Workout Jams" heading. Permission for Albums to access this data can be controlled via the Apple Health app.

Perfect!

While the stock Apple Music app is fine for playlists, lyrics, & discovering new music, it’s not great for everything. Sometimes I just want to listen to an album or two, or listen though the entire discography of an artist, and when I do Albums is where I go to do it. Being able to sort by release date lets me start at the beginning & work forward, allowing me to experience how the band change and grow from one album to the next. I fear that albums are becoming less important in favour of singles, but it’s god to know there’s an app out there for those of us who still prefer the old ways.

Not every app is good enough that I’ll pay for a lifetime unlock of the full version, but in this case it was worth every penny.

Superb for listening and discovery

When I “replaced” my large vinyl and CD collection with Apple Music I thought in terms of physical things - I’m used to listening to albums and single most of my life.

Albums supports that mindset wonderfully. It treats my albums as albums rather than a collection of songs to be shuffled and skipped. It provides loads of information about an album, pulling info from the web that allows you connect engineers, or violin players, or studios from one of my albums with other albums that have the same in common. Fascinating stuff.

I love the Insights tab that tells you what was released today 30 (or whatever) years ago and the one that shows me what records were released in my teens, 20s and 30s - instant connections!

I’ve emailed Adam about the app and he always replies and often with some detail which is how support should be. The app has so many really great features if you love nosing around in your collection and discovering more and more useful features appear quite often - look how often the app gets updates.

A really top notch music app

I’ve been using Albums for some time and have come to realise the app is just amazingly brilliant. The stand out feature for me is the “Release Feed” that monitors artists from your library and alerts you of any new releases or updates. I can’t recommend this app enough.

To the developers, thank you.
