Great fast program
I have been an Art Studio user for many years since the ipad 1 came out. I still use it on my ipad and so wanted to try out on the mac too. The brush engine is fast even when painting on a 10K image and refreshing to use compared to certain other desktop programs.
I would love to see some of the features from the ipad version onto the desktop version. Some in particular are
- the ability to favourite brushes so I don't have to keep switching between brush packs.
A navigator panel that I can easily click to mirror the image without actually flipping it.
- would love to change shortscuts if needed.
- a slider option for the brush size would be great. Rather than having to keep going to the top left of the screen and dragging the size box. Maybe like the ipad version of if I click right click on my wacom to change the size of the brush.
-It would be fantastic if when using the mixer brush that there is an option to rotate the picked area so not only does the brush tip rotate but also the paint from within.
Great program, I always recommend to my fellow peers.
Excellent Painting App
I've been using ArtStudio Pro for some months now, both on the mac and iPad. The quality of its brush engine is fast making it my go to painting app. You can freely pass brushes between MacOs and iOS and Metal acceleration means virtually no brush lag at large sizes, the performance is excellent. It has all the painting and manipulation tools I could want including an excellent elastify distortion tool and the developers are very responsive. For example some months ago I requested they add a click/drag left/right brush size key shortcut and soon enough it was done. For me the only slight bug bear left is that the colour panel is not permanently dockable to the right hand side of the interface. I think it would speed up workflow to have that panel permanently docked. It's not a huge deal, you can just click on the colour swatch to open a free floating panel but this must be done every time the app is launched which gets a bit dull. However once again the developer said this should be addressed in an upcoming version and I have every faith it will. :) Keep up the great work Lucky Clan!
Basic, fun programme but not particularly easy to use
I found this application was quite difficult to come to terms with as it is not very intuitive to use after using more advanced programmes such as Photoshop and Pixelmator. It has most of the tools required for image manipulation but the menus and sub-menus are numerous and not always easy to find.
Saving images is limited to Artstudio Pro or Artstudio Pro Zipped formats which is a huge problem. You need to export images to save in any other format.
Good fun to play around with but, for the money, there are better, more professional programmes on the App Store.
