Description
Astro Locator makes it simple for astronomers to get their OTA "polar aligned" quickly and easily.
It is of particular benefit to new astronomers who set up and break down each session, so is of great use to those without the luxury of an observatory.
Astro Locator’s primary purpose is to help find Polaris or Sigma Octantis quickly and easily, so ensuring that the astronomer can get polar aligned quickly and easily.
Displaying the current direction, elevation, latitude and longitude, altitude, moon phase, sunrise and sunset times as well as astro twilight times.
All data required to quickly and effectively locate Polaris or Sigma Octantis displayed clearly on one screen.
Astro Locator shows correct elevation.
Accurate time shown in both UTC and local time zones for accurate setup and Iridium flares.
View sunrise and sunset times, as well as astro twilight start and end times to know when viewing and imaging is possible.
See the current moon phase.
Today Extension: Whilst the sunrise & sunset, and astro twilight times are of course available within the app, they are also available for quick access as a Today Widget. Just a quick swipe down to view the days information.

AstroLocator 1.1.1
Simple very effective way of getting my equatorial mount roughly polar aligned quickly. There's nothing worse than scrabbling around trying to find Polaris when it's not visible through the polar-scope. This app works a treat saving time and neck ache! My Vixen SXD mount has a good polar-scope but I often set the telescope up before sunset and before Polaris is visible. Having Coords, UTC and LST is handy too for calibrating the go-to system. Well done.

Could only get the first screen to show on my iPhone 6. Really just a good compass and gps readout.

Thank you for downloading AstroLocator. I am not sure what other screens you are looking for? Astro Locator provides a compass and gps readout, yes, but also provides the elevation reading of the mount / OTA. Please do take a look at the instructions on the Help link, as it is by using all of this data together, specifically using the elevation which highlights the correct elevation based on your GPS data, that allows for the alignment of your mount & OTA.
