Description

AudioSwitcher is a menu bar that allows you to switch quickly between all available input and output devices.  In addition you can change the volume of any device without having to change your current input / output.

You can quickly change the sample rate or output to multiple devices at the same time.

Using the preferences screen you can choose to ignore certain devices, set a default start-up input or output device as well as it’s volume.

AudioSwitcher supports any device available to the system: USB, HDMI, Thunderbolt, Bluetooth etc.

AudioSwitcher is ideal if you have multiple sound devices attached to your Mac and want to be able to switch between them without having to use System Preferences.

Things to be aware of:

- If you have headphones physically plugged in then your internal speakers are disabled - AudioSwitcher get around this hardware limitation.
- Apple no longer allow 3rd party apps to see or view AirPlay devices
- This is a menubar app - once it’s launched you need to click on the menubar icon

What’s New

Version 2.99.6

Added an option to remove previously seen but no longer attached devices on restart
Fixed a bug where devices with both input and output endpoints with the same name would cause problems with hotkey shortcuts

Read CAREFULLY what it can actually do. ITS NOT A LOT IF ANYTHING.

I am glad this cost me 79 pence. Because it doesnt do any of the things I expected it to do. I assumed that the most recent review was from someone who wanted it to do something unreasonable. Little did I know that not only was the review correct but I cant find what it actually does do?

Im not saying this is a rip off but I reckon it needs to be retired.

I got it becuase I simply wanted to switch more easily between headphone socket and HDMI on an external monitor, It doesnt do that. I have 2 outputs in total and it can even switch between them! I knew it wouldnt change the volume but thats ok as I have a remote and can set that myself. I just wanted to change outputs and use both if possible without having to open the volume panel and change them that way. So much foor that stupid idea. I will just do it the hard way. Uninstalled but cant get a refund. I would suggest the developers make it clear exaclty what it can do and what it can’t. I dont count putting it in the FAQ telling consumers clearly.

Does not work

Bought and launched it. In the set up it askerd a NO or YES question about which I did not understand. I clicked NO in the expectation that I could go back through the process and reread the set up. However, now NOTHING, absolutley zilch. Won't launch at all. Contacted the authgor days ago but no reply.

Works very well for my needs

Not sure why there are reviews saying it doesn’t work, as it does, and very well. Perhaps they didn’t read the advice above about hardware limitations and what won’t work. But foe me, I use it most days for switching betwen 3 different devices (Headphones socket, Bluetooth headphone and Koomplete Audio 6). HAndy to be able to set the startup device as well. Great app!.
