Audius Music 12+

Audius is a great app for artists and listeners. It easy to use and allows you to upload and get immediate feedback on music and submissions. I really like the remix competitions that can be found and entered. You also get early access to some great upcoming artist as well as established players. A great use of blockchain technology.

Play stats poor compared to SoundCloud. Can’t see who has played your tracks and the stats include your own plays of your own tracks which is particularly poor. There are very few big hitters on board. You have to select acts to follow when registering from a very very small selection. If you are going to force users to do that at least give a better selection. Though I’m assuming that’s due to the lack of big hitters on board. $audio feels gimmicky. Like SoundCloud, you get users following you without listening to your tracks just to boost their own stats.

This site still feels like it’s in its infancy. I use SoundCloud which is far from perfect and I’d love to switch to something else but if I’m honest Audius is a million miles away at the moment and I very much doubt it’ll ever get anywhere near to catching up.

It’s still at the beginning stage, but it has a big potential to grow big, it’s been more than a few years since it’s launch and there is still needs lots to be done to get it on top.
