Ratings and Reviews
Very helpful - but needs some more options, especially for NFS
I purchased this primarily to auto-mount SMB shares from my NAS, and it does a good job of that.
I hoped to also use it to mount a few NFS shares, but unfortunately the lack of available options prevents me from doing that. If there could be a way to fully specify all available NFS mount options - soft, async, NFS version (eg vers=4), etc - then this would be a really nice option for me. Especially as Automounter has a 'hide mount' option, preventing the mount appearing under my Devices, which is really annoying when I have dozens of NFS mounts.
Developer, please add a way to specify any arbitrary mount options for all mounts - but especially NFS - and my review will be an immediate 5 star. This could be hidden under an 'advanced/expert' tab or something. The current dropdown system is OK, but isn't suitable for all the many mount options that exist for network mounts, especially NFS. I want to just be able to type them out.
Anyway, still useful software for most SMB mounting needs, and recommended for that use case at least.
It makes the mounting process so much simpler
For ages I've been wrestling with trying to get my NAS shares to quietly (without having to click alerts or minimise windows) mount on boot.
I resorted to writing my own Applescript in order to do it. This meant having to learn the basics of the language as well as some pretty technical stuff I didn't want to know in the first place. Even after all this it was buggy, I'd be constantly having to switch between SMB and NFS due to glitchiness, slowdowns, and random disconnects.
I eventually found Automounter, after a pretty deep and intensive session of Google-fu late one night, and I'm happy to report it made everything so much simpler. In addition my mounts are just a lot happier, I have not experienced any of the same issues I did with my homebrew Applescript.
In addition, after the recent Mojave update, my NFS shares all broke. I emailed Automounter support and they replied in 5 minutes! Admittedely it was about midnight here in the UK and, them being in NZ, it was probably getting close to knock-off time but still... It was 5 minutes!! They let me know a possible issue and I made some adjustments and now, in the words of the great inventor Wallace, "Everything is under control!".
Brilliant!!
Great solution to irritating problem, great support, well worth the money!
I move between servers and shared folders at home and at various offices. This app makes it easy to move between locations and automatically makes sure that all the shares are mounted correctly. In addition, when I manually mounted my NAS box share which contains my master photos, for some reason OSX mounted it in a different location (probably my fault). However, this app makes sure that my photos are always available in the same place which stops Lightroom from being confused. Support is very responsive, patient and friendly. I cannot recommend this highly enough to any travelling mac user!
