Avalon View
A beautiful boat and the staff are absolutely exceptional in terms of both service and their willingness to assist everyone. The food is extremely varied and 5 star standard. The tour itself could not be better with various interesting stops along the Danube. The tour director was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, willing to support everyone on board with a constant smile. A fantastic holiday and one we won’t forget. It was celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary but I’ll be back…..god sparing. 5 stars doesn’t do it service. Well done Avalon
Superb
The App kept us so completely informed of events on the cruise even to the flight delays (informed before the announcement in airport!). It even informed us of which luggage conveyor our luggage would be on when we arrived back in Heathrow. Definitely recommend to all Avalon river cruises.
Covid
Whereas the overall cruise was as listed in the surveys we completed I want to point out that within 24hrs of return to the UK my wife tested positive for Covid.
Reviewing things it was noted that some people on board were coughing during the last few days, including people we dined with.
Also the hand sanitisers were not working on the replacement vessel A.Illusion.
This is yet another development we were not wanting / expecting, ranking alongside the change of vessel which in itself lost us almost a day of the holiday and a lot of hassle packing, unpacking then packing again within 36hrs for departure.
It might also be worthwhile noting that your compensation was derisory and did not reflect the loss.
On a good note though I must recommend the very hard working crew that tried to make it as seamless as they could.
