AXA Drivesave is a free app that uses smartphone technology to measure and reward safe driving. If you are under 25 you can save money on your premium just for using the app. Plus you can still earn additional cash back during the year depending on your driving scores.
HOW DOES DRIVESAVE WORK
Drivesave is not about watching you 24/7. Nor does it punish you if you brake suddenly to avoid an accident or occasionally exceed the speed limit.
Drivesave looks at your overall driving behaviour and scores you based on your long term driving profile.
Every time you record a journey Drivesave will assess your speed, braking, acceleration levels and cornering, and give feedback and tips.
Once you’ve recorded 400 km / 250 miles of driving, Drivesave will give you a Driver Score. You can track how your score changes as you improve your driving.
To receive cash back on your premium you must maintain an average Driver Score of more than 70 out of 100.

Ratings and Reviews
Customer service are horrific.
When I took out my policy they told me that all I had to do was drive 250 miles in my first 90 days and after that, it didn’t matter if I drove 1000 miles or 10 miles each month, just as long as it was recorded. I don’t drive my car often and even when I explained to them that I was in hospital and that’s why I wasn’t driving at all, I still received threatening phone calls telling me that I have to drive 250 miles and 90 trips EVERY month, even though these were not the terms that were read out to be before I took the policy out or else I would of never done it!
Absolutely horrendous company and service and I will never recommend Axa to anyone. They had been my whole families insurance provider before my experience of the Drivesave app and now none of us will be renewing with them.
This app needs updated badly, it’s a great idea but it doesn’t tell you what you have done wrong when you have a bad score or how to fix it, which is very confusing as how are you meant to improve your driving when you don’t know what you have done wrong to begin with, maybe if there was an update with an individual score on your anticipation, smoothness, pace and calmness for each drive separately so that you could see clearly what you done to achieve the bad score you could work on it to make the score better! Hopefully there will be something changed in it to help all young drivers soon as there hasn’t been an update in 2 years.
The app is unbelievably inaccurate and never logs any of the information except for things that I’m supposedly doing wrong. Used it there one day and my score went down by like 13 even though it was only a few mile and still didn’t showed a blank journey where I was doing nothing good or bad. My score is now way down and won’t move up no matter how much I drive like a saint.
Good for nothing and for it to supposedly help to bring your insurance down the next year it does not at all. Very disappointed and wish they would do something about this.
