Pretty good app but some improvements would help

It would be nice to set up a default device... I only have the Neo Soundstage so it makes little sense for the app to keep asking me which device I want to control.

Widget support was just added /updated only using the old widget system and not iOS14 widgets. Still (Feb/2021) not updated to support iOS14.

Changing the volume and switching sources are two of my most commonly run operations. Recently the UI was changed so that volume controls are available on the device homepage but I still have to go via the device selection screen. Selecting an AV source requires getting past device selection screen, scrolling down, selecting TV remote, tapping the source button and then finally choosing the source. Not quite the same as having a "Netflix" button on the Beoremote itself.

Shame About The App

This is a extremely hard review to write because I’ve been a fan of the company ever since my father brought his first system back in 1987 and remembering just how magical the CDX part was and hearing the Redlines, I had never heard anything like and then buying my first in 1997 with the BeoSound 9000/BeoLab 8000 and still to this day I get excited by the products and believe they’re second to non and actually get withdrawal symptoms if I don’t get a new brown box with the Bang & Olufsen branding every now and then throughout the year.

For me Bang & Olufsen is about beautiful design and delivering sound and where their products excel this app fails, it uses Deezer within but I’m unable to save or compile a playlist, save albums and not have a limited selection compared to what Deezer offer and when I search for well known popular artists it fails to find them, I could use the Deezer app and cast or airplay but multi-room doesn’t support this source so can’t play to multiple speakers throughout the home and occasionally the app suffers from products going offline even if I’m in the same room and can’t open them up.

I’ve been with B&O for a long time now and know just what they’re capable of, they set the bar high and practically invented the multi-room even before it was believed possible and hope they invest in this app because in my opinion it’s the only place it fails.

Good when it works

*UPDATE* after I left my review below customer service contacted me with a possible fix. I went through all the resetting the app then re pairing etc. The problem seems to be that when I put my phone in flight mode the app can not connect to the ear buds. The buds work fine in flight mode just not with the app. Please fix this, I fly regularly and this is when I use the buds most. Also the app is now displaying the Fernando Alonso buds photo. 😄 not too bothered about that however.
Recently purchased E8 sport x Rapha ear buds which are superb. Set up with the app, rapha ear buds displayed in app, everything worked fine and then without any reason the app couldn’t find the ear buds. Had to re pair them as a new product again. Now it displays a standard E8 sport earbud photo and not the Rapha ones. I’ve just flew back from Amsterdam and the app could not find them. The standard settings on an iPhone are rubbish. The app is a must to add a little more bass otherwise they sound just like any other bog standard ear bud, not great when the app won’t connect. I’m using these with an iPhone 12 Pro with Bluetooth 5. Whatever. Shouldn’t be having these issues. Please sort it out
