Could be so much better

As someone who uses other banking apps, ie LoydsTsb, BOI has very poor functionality, and is very frustrating to use. Whereas other apps allow for searches by payee name and amount, BOI only allows for broad range searches by date and/or credit/debits that is so wide it’s all but useless. It’s making a big fanfare of its new insights but it needs to really up its game with the app and payment search first. I want to be able to search by name ie Tesco or amount, other apps allow for this. Sadly there is too little competition here in Ireland for what would be absolutely necessary in any other context. I’m continually frustrated and disappointed but expect will continue. One wonders how those in BOI themselves find using the app?? Woeful too probably! But a plea to the app developers please can you make searches for payees payments better??

Works just fine except for a couple of things

I think the app works fine and allows me to do most things very easily. I don’t like the limit of €1000 on payments after you just set up a payee. This has been a pain a couple of times but I suppose it’s to protect against fraud. I wish there was a way to override it though, once you are really sure it is not a fraud. The other thing that I had issues with was when you try and pay for something online and it goes through an extra level of validation that means you have to go to the app and approve the payment. This never works for me on the same device. I need to pull out my iPad to buy the thing and use the phone to authorize it. That is annoying. But otherwise it works well enough compared to most of these apps.

This app is absolutely appalling.

This app is an outright disgrace, having to enter different numbers of your pin every time you want to go into the app is just unjustifiable. This app doesn’t utilise any modern approaches such as touch ID or Face ID which the majority of the population has access to on their mobile device. Why this app doesn’t give you the option to use face ID for signing in is beyond me. Furthermore, the look of the app is terrible it’s been lazily put together and the loading times when switching to different sections is again unjustifiable, I have an Iphone XS a 2 year going on 3 year old flagship device and there is at least a second wait with a loading sign when switching to different pages within the app, how on earth is that even possible the app is probably the most poorest optimised app I have ever used.
