Bible in One Year 4+

I’ve been looking for an app like this for many years that will take me THROUGH THE WHOLE BIBLE IN A YEAR and is in a Modern Bible Translation e.g. NIV 2011 (New International Version), has the Bible words for the Daily Readings, a commentary, a prayer and an AUDIO of all the Readings for the day. For instance, for today Wednesday 8 January 2020, there are readings from Proverbs and Genesis in the Old Testament of the Bible and also readings from the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament of the Bible). The Readings are done amazingly well by David Suchet (the detective actor Monsieur Poirot in Agatha Christie Dramas) with another guest narrator making some additional comments. I am extremely impressed by the overall quality of the app and the recordings, as well as the very-fast turnaround assistance by the app’s back office technical support. I’m thankful for all the back-end support I’ve received. I would definitely recommend the app to anyone earnestly YEARNING for a Personal Relationship with our ABBA Father God who so loved us and made a way to KNOW Him through the Redeeming Sacrifice and Resurrection of His Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. From today’s reading, Genesis 18:10 says “Is anything too hard for [the Lord God Almighty]? Thanks for reading.

I have read the bible every day since January 1st 1981 and for the first 7 years read it straight through in various translations from cover to cover which was helpful to me but very dry, spending the greater part of the year in the Old Testament.
I was then shown the various one year bibles and so I purchased and read ,in various modern translations, these one year bibles which presented a short passage from both the old and new testaments together with a psalm or proverb. This was a much more palatable and refreshing way of digesting scripture which was ,by now, already familiar to me.
The last couple of years have been the best for me when I start on Nicky Gumbel’s Bible in One Year with his most readable and helpful commentaries and prayers together with humorous but humble postscripts written by his wife Pippa. The connections he makes and various themes he draws out were a revelation to me and an ongoing pleasure every day. He is quite unashamedly presenting the gospel message each day and I thoroughly recommend anybody, committed Christian or not, to take up the challenge and the BIOY everyday.

As a Christian of many years I have consistently struggled to understand the Bible. I’ve read commentaries and books by various authors in my desire to understand the Bible. My favourite books? Nicky Gumbel’s - he has a gift for making sense of perplexing passages and historical cultural dichotomies.
But I wanted to read the entire Bible on a daily basis, so what a joy to find this Bible in one year App. I haven’t been disappointed, each day brings new revelation, having Nicky explain the Bible passages, linking OT, NT, Proverb or Psalm with a common theme is excellent. Personal testimonies of God’s power at work in his life and in the lives of those so have come to Christ through Alpha or other ways means that this isn’t a dry theological discourse but an invitation to discover how relevant the Bible remains today.
So far (day 126) the App has worked perfectly. I like the audio feature, I read along with the audio and this helps to prevent me from my habit of skim reading.
I’m now excited to start each day by reading the Bible and praying. I highly recommend this to you.
