Description

BikeGPX is the best way to navigate fixed-route rides such as charity rides, sportives and audaxes where a GPX file has been provided by the organizer, as well as routes you plan yourself in advance.

- Easily send GPX files to your phone from your Mac or PC - no account required
- Off Route Alarm plays a sound if you go off your route
- On-screen Elevation Graph shows what big hills are coming up (in-app purchase required)
- Sharp Turn Alarm looks for upcoming sharp turns and plays a warning sound (in-app purchase required)
- Route ahead highlighting indicates which way to go when different parts of the route overlap
- User accounts allow access to your routes from multiple devices
- Routing continues to work when the app is backgrounded or the phone is in sleep mode
- Optional track recording, so you can export your ride as a GPX when completed
- Support for Bluetooth speed/cadence sensors, heart rate monitors and power meters

Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Great app, clunky uploads

This app is superb for its adjustable sized speedo and clear routing. It would be even better if the compass was always visble, and, more importantly, gpx files could be opened by the app. For now we have to go to the BikeGPX website, browse for our gpx route, open it, wait and hope not to get the Internal Server Error message, save it and finally open it in the BikeGpx app. I say please ditch the website or at least make it more communicative. There's no means of contacting BikeGPX except, maybe, thru this review.

Three Old Amigos

Three old guys have completed the King Alfred Way and West Kernow Way over the last year in trying conditions in October. Have used various apps between us, but the Ridegpx app, on the second ride with Premium setting, has proved to be the best guide even in the most remote moorland areas with very indistinct paths. The alarm soon tells you whether you have chosen the correct route or not. We always followed the Ridegpx guidance over the other options. I rode with the route loaded to an iPhone 11 linked to a charger both stored in a waterproof case on the handlebars, with a transparent front giving a clear view of the route - even for those needing glasses! Can’t recommend highly enough.

Best Turn by Turn

One of the best cycling navigation apps. Very simple interface and easy to see the route when cycling - although like all cycling SatNavs, it uses default map colouring which makes the minor roads we cycle on very pale compared the the major roads we don’t cycle on?? Turn notifications when screen is locked very useful as is distance from route when deviated.

I only use it when I’m not sure of a route though - I would use it more, but the dashboard gauges are a bit too basic. I use Wahoo Fitness because it gives me averages not just the spot figures, but a lesser map.
