Can’t identify a starling.

I downloaded this as I have started to hear lots of different birds lately and not see them .
It was great at picking up robins and sparrows and there were a few other surprises but when the starlings visited of which there are many all it kept coming up with was blackbird .
I know there were blackbirds but the starling were prominent and easy to pick up. Also when a plane went over it said it was a mallard duck and a herring gull which I found very amusing .

Good App but needs a History option

Tried it in my back garden and it successfully identified several birds I knew correctly - however when two or three birds were singing it flashed them up on screen so fast I couldn’t read them! Needs a pause or history function😁
Another nice to have would be ability to replay what it heard so you can hear the song it identified. No idea if it’s even technically possible!! Good luck and great work!!

Developer Response ,

Hi Aberlake,

Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to give feedback (the 1st). Great idea about a history function, so I'm looking at putting that into the next build. :). The sound recording and playback is a good idea too and technically possible, but I'll need to look at the implications it has on data protection.

Real-time ID is great but...

This is a brilliant application without the need to record before analysis like the other apps on offer.
It regularly wrongly detects herring gill although I know there are none around.
It seems to go a bit haywire when there are multiple birds around. Maybe you AI needs to learn combined songs as well as individual songs.
However I agree with the other reviewer. The information scrolls past way to fast.
There’s plenty of space on the screen to have 20 lines at least. What would be better would be a list of detected birds with a count of the times it was detected and a rolling average of the confidence. I’d be prepared to pay for this additional functionality 😀
Thanks
Tim
